The purpose of this grant program is to give financial support to projects in local communities that exemplify the mission of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. To accomplish this, NSDAR will make grants available to fund initiatives in these three mission areas. Examples of grant funding available:
Historic Preservation – Restore or refurbish an historic site, such as a community cemetery or landmark building
Education – Donate books or resource materials for tutoring programs
Patriotism – Erect a granite monument to veterans in a city park.
Only Non-profit 501 (C) (3) entities may apply for these funds. Grants will be awarded for projects that relate directly to the mission and objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Only one grant funding will be awarded to any applying entity as part of the Wright Administration President General’s Project. Only one grant funding will be awarded to any one entity as part of the 2010-2013 Wright Administration President General’s Project. Grants of $1000 to $2000 amounts are encouraged with a cap of $10,000 for grant requests. Applicants will be required to match the grant award 1:1 in order to allow broader distribution of funds. Matching funds are not required to come from the organization applying for the grant but may come from multiple donors or fundraising.
A national chairman administers this committee serving with three national vice chairmen who are responsible for the three grant areas of historic preservation, education and patriotism. These proposals will be submitted to the national chairman, Special Projects Grants Committee, and will be evaluated by independent judges selected for this purpose. Successful applicants will be notified by NSDAR and will be required to complete all projects within one year of the awarding of the grant. Communications about these grants to all units of NSDAR, compliance, monitoring and final completion reporting are the responsibility of the national chairman, Special Projects Grants Committee. Funding for the grants will be provided through the 2010-2013 Wright President General's Project Fund.
